Marlaina Stuve (Associate Therapist)

My name is Marlaina Stuve M.Ed, and I have been working here at The Center for Growth since June 2024. I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and adults on their journey toward mental well-being and personal growth. I earned my degree from Temple University’s Counseling Psychology program in December of 2022, where I received comprehensive training in various therapeutic modalities. Since graduating, I have had the privilege of working in both private practice and community mental health settings. This diverse experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively support my clients through a variety of challenges.

In my practice, I draw from several evidence-based therapeutic approaches to tailor my sessions to the unique needs of each client. These modalities include Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps individuals understand and integrate the different “parts” of themselves, promoting self-compassion and healing; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is particularly effective for individuals struggling with intense emotions and behaviors, focusing on building skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which encourages clients to accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them, emphasizing living a value-driven life and committing to actions that align with those values; and Attachment Theory, which helps clients explore and improve their relational patterns by understanding their attachment styles.

I work with clients facing a range of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, and faith crises. I understand that seeking mental health help can be a daunting step. It takes immense courage to reach out and admit that you might need support. Recognizing this, I strive to create a welcoming and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to express themselves. My goal is to meet clients where they are, honoring their unique experiences and perspectives.

I believe in the power of warmth and friendliness in the therapeutic relationship. Building a genuine connection with my clients is at the heart of my practice. I aim to make each session a space where clients can feel understood, accepted, and valued. Every individual’s journey is unique, and I am committed to providing personalized care that respects and responds to each client’s specific needs. Whether you are grappling with daily stressors or navigating significant life transitions, I am here to support you. My approach is collaborative, and I view therapy as a partnership where we work together towards your goals.

Young adulthood is a time of significant change and development. It can be exciting yet overwhelming as you navigate new responsibilities, relationships, and career paths. I am dedicated to helping young adults manage these transitions, build resilience, and develop a strong sense of self. Through our work together, you can gain the tools and insights needed to thrive during this pivotal stage of life. Relationships can be deeply fulfilling but also challenging. I work with couples to enhance their communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their emotional bonds. Whether you are dealing with specific issues or seeking to deepen your connection, I provide a supportive space for you to work towards a healthier, more satisfying relationship.

For adults seeking individual therapy, I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental environment to explore personal challenges and aspirations. Whether dealing with mental health issues like anxiety or depression, coping with trauma, or navigating life changes, I am here to support you in finding balance and fulfillment. In addition to individual and couples therapy, I facilitate group therapy sessions. Group therapy provides a unique opportunity to connect with others who are facing similar challenges, offering a sense of community and shared understanding. It can be incredibly powerful to witness and participate in the collective healing and growth that occurs within a group setting.

At The Center for Growth, our mission is to foster an environment where clients can explore, heal, and grow. I am committed to continuous learning and professional development to ensure that I provide the most effective and up-to-date therapeutic interventions. My practice is grounded in respect, empathy, and a deep belief in each person’s capacity for growth and transformation.

I invite you to take the first step on your journey towards greater mental and emotional well-being. Whether you are struggling with specific issues or simply looking for a space to explore your thoughts and feelings, I am here to help. Together, we can work towards understanding and overcoming the obstacles in your path, fostering a life of greater fulfillment and joy. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey.

If you would like to learn more about my services or schedule an appointment, please feel free to reach out. I am here to answer any questions you may have and to help you take the next steps towards growth and healing.
