Robert Jenkins, M.Ed., LPC (Therapist)
Robert Jenkins M.Ed. (he/him/his) is a therapist who uses an approach that emphasizes empowerment through varied theoretical lenses. Robert uses cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, existential and systemic techniques while imploring self-compassion in the discovery process. Robert emphasizes non-judgmental treatment in order to help others get to their desired destinations. Robert’s clinical areas of focus include but are not limited to: communication enhancement, assertiveness skills, boundary setting, child-parent problems, men’s issues, and facilitating group dialogues.
His approach is to counseling involves demystifying the process of counseling while working in collaboration with clients in developing goals. Robert has worked with and had success with a wide range of clinical challenges. He has worked with individuals, and families who have experienced traumatic events, have low self-esteem, generalized and social anxiety, phobias, depression, and challenges in their work and personal lives. Treatment has occurred within a wide age and developmental range, from elementary aged children to intellectually challenged seniors. Robert places a large emphasis in connecting and forming a genuine bond. Clients know that he is fully divested into their treatment working collaboratively to help get to their desired goals.
Prior to his start at the Center for Growth, Inc., he provided in-home family therapy and individual services to children that were subjected to emotional, sexual or physical abuse. Robert is committed to providing mental health services to individuals who may not normally view therapy as an avenue for healing due to stigma or other prior negative experiences when seeking out help. Robert has a philosophy that if an individual is in a challenging situation that there is always a person willing to help and he hopes to be that person for you.
Robert attended The Pennsylvania State University and has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s in Counselor Education in Clinical Mental Health in Schools and Developing Communities. While in State College Robert piloted a counseling program in a local charter school. Upon returning to Philadelphia, Robert began work as an in-home Family Based Therapist.
